Mike's Chicken ("we", "us", "our") respects your privacy. This policy explains what information we collect when you visit mikeschicken.com, order from us, contact our team, or interact with our SMS and email programs — and how we use it.

1. Information We Collect

We collect information you provide directly and information collected automatically when you use our site or services.

  • Contact & feedback: Name, email, phone number, ratings, written comments, and optional photos you submit through our feedback or catering forms.
  • Orders: Order details (items, totals, pickup/delivery info) processed through our point-of-sale partner Toast.
  • SMS conversations: Messages you send to or receive from our customer-support phone numbers, including delivery and read status from our SMS provider.
  • Email signups: Email address and signup source if you opt in to promos, perks, or program updates.
  • Behavioral analytics: Pages visited, clicks, scroll depth, time on section, screen size, referrer, and a per-session anonymous identifier.
  • Cookies & local storage: Small data files used for essential site function, analytics, and remembering preferences (such as cookie-banner dismissal).

2. How We Use Your Information

  • Fulfill orders, catering inquiries, and customer-support requests.
  • Reply to feedback and operate two-way SMS and email conversations with you.
  • Send transactional messages (order confirmations, ticket updates, post-order surveys, gift-card delivery, raffle notifications).
  • Send marketing messages — only to people who opted in, with a one-tap unsubscribe in every message.
  • Improve the website by analyzing aggregated behavioral analytics.
  • Detect and prevent abuse, spam, and fraud (e.g. SMS pumping protection).
  • Comply with legal obligations.

3. Service Providers We Share Data With

We share the minimum data necessary with vendors that help us run the business. These providers are bound to use it only to deliver services to us.

  • Toast — point-of-sale, online ordering, payment processing.
  • Twilio — outbound and inbound SMS delivery.
  • Resend — transactional and marketing email delivery.
  • Google Analytics — aggregated traffic analytics (no payment data).
  • Supabase — secure database and backend hosting.

We do not sell your personal information.

4. Cookies & Tracking

We use a small number of cookies and similar technologies:

  • Essential — required for the site to work (e.g. cookie-banner state, session ID).
  • Analytics — Google Analytics measures aggregate traffic patterns. You can opt out using the Google Analytics opt-out add-on.
  • Behavioral — anonymous click and scroll tracking we own, used only to improve the site.
  • Marketing — only set if you opt in to our promo programs.

Most browsers let you control cookies through settings. Blocking essential cookies may break parts of the site.

5. SMS Program Terms

By providing your mobile number through our forms or by replying to one of our messages, you agree to receive transactional and (where you opt in) promotional text messages from Mike's Chicken. You opt in to marketing texts by checking the SMS marketing box at online checkout, or by texting us first. Transactional messages — such as order, feedback, gift-card, and Wait-Time Giveaway prize notifications — may be sent to the number you provide in connection with that interaction.

  • Message frequency varies. Message and data rates may apply.
  • Reply STOP to opt out at any time. Reply HELP for help.
  • Carriers are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages.
  • We use separate phone numbers for customer-support conversations and bulk messaging so opting out of one program does not silence the other.

We do not share your mobile information. We will not sell, rent, or share your mobile phone number, or your SMS opt-in and consent, with any third parties or affiliates for their own marketing or promotional purposes. Phone numbers collected for our SMS program are shared only with our messaging provider (Twilio) for the sole purpose of delivering the messages you requested. Text-message originator opt-in data and consent are not shared with any third parties.

6. Your Rights & Choices

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to:

  • Request a copy of the personal information we hold about you.
  • Ask us to correct inaccurate information.
  • Ask us to delete your information (subject to legal record-keeping requirements).
  • Opt out of marketing email or SMS at any time.

7. Data Retention

We keep personal information only as long as we need it for the purposes described above:

  • Order records — retained for accounting and warranty purposes per applicable law.
  • Feedback tickets — retained to track service improvements; you can request deletion.
  • SMS conversations — operationally retained to maintain context across follow-ups; older webhook payloads are auto-purged after 30 days.
  • Behavioral analytics — retained up to 26 months (Google Analytics default).

8. Security

We use industry-standard safeguards including encrypted connections (HTTPS), Row-Level Security on our database, role-based admin access, and HMAC validation on inbound webhooks. No system is 100% secure — please do not send sensitive identifiers (full payment card numbers, government IDs) through our forms.

9. Children's Privacy

Our site is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has provided us information, contact us and we'll delete it.

10. California & Other State Residents

If you are a resident of California, Colorado, Connecticut, Virginia, Utah, or another state with comprehensive privacy laws, you may have additional rights including the right to know, delete, correct, and opt out of "sale" or "sharing" of personal information. We do not sell or share personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising. Submit requests through the channels listed in Section 6.

11. Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be highlighted on this page and, when appropriate, announced on the site. The "Last updated" date at the top reflects the most recent revision.
